Ohhhhh-Mega-Ouchies! Poor little pup has gotten himself too close too danger, as we do so many times in our lives. Wrong time, wrong place, just wrong..and then gone...great verse form with leading lines, flow, cleverness of language, metaphor, alliteration, imagery. Billboards blocking painful memories. Great poem E. P.S. Hope pup is rid of the barbs and feeling much better!!

I guess danger and troubles and all things, that are woes. Is natures way and god's way of saying we are just but mortal and human beings. And we take the fall. And learn from our mistakes.

You describe this incident marvelously and with sinking feeling. Accidents happen, normalcy is broken and decisions are needed fast and quick to remedy the situation, lest be a great loss. You are a masterful writer, sir Einstein.

I love the bee bop jazz of this piece. Reading on i felt if i held on tight enough the music of the poem might carry into an after part. To a place where trouble is the fun, and the fun is on till day break.

The consequences that follow every encounter. Some chance meetings do leave scars.
The goodbyes that we have never had a chance to say, will stay with us forever.
Poor little puppy, I hope he was given an anesthesia before removing those quills.
Hope everything is great with you E!

I love the image you chose to go with this wonderful poem. How well it represents what happens in a relationship. In the beginning it almost feels like an accident waiting to happen. There is the thrill and the newness followed by the "bristles that happen' putting us on the wrong track. And then, sadly, when it sometimes ends the good bye that "hangs like a billboard blocking the sunrise." Very cleverly and masterfully written as always. Loved it!

E., as I finished reading your poem, I thought of nature, specifically sunrise, noon, and dusk, and how life comes in cycles. Every "hello" fades and a "goodnight" follows. Still, we rise for tomorrow's greetings, even if a hope. Great musical pairing, too.
