Revenge

Revenge

A Poem by Quinn W

I caught your voice from the far corner of the room.
What you said made me wish you my groom.
You were so charming and kind
I wanted you to be mine.

We went dancing a few days later.
To all my past lovers, you were greater.
Our eyes met as our bodies swayed
And all my worries decayed.

One lonely night, I called.
To each other, we were both enthralled.
Our lips met and the rest came naturally,
As we showcased our vitality.

Several months our relationship flourished,
But I was not able to keep you nourished.

Your deceitful kisses and malicious lies.
But I was more the wise.
Your phone was left on the table,
To read your texts, I was able.

You messaged her after we made love
You called her your dove.
She knew you were cheating
Yet your ways you were repeating.

You both tore me apart,
blackened my heart.
That's why I felt no remorse
While standing over her corpse.

This is an unusual Halloween style poem. Even tho there is plenty of bad blood thru-out, the poem seems to start with a somewhat-innocent lilt & the narrator seems to be pure & well-meaning. That's why the ending stab comes as such a surprise & a deserved one at that. Your story is complete & well-paced to grab that final twist of surprise. My very favorite kind of Halloween poem -- retribution against some jerk who deserves it! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
