Questions I Get About Veganism

Questions I Get About Veganism

A Chapter by Quinn W

1) Where do you get protein? People don't need nearly as much protein as they think. Plants have all the protein you need to be healthy.
2) But the bible says it's okay to eat animals. I'm not here to tell you how to interpret your religion. I'm not here to argue about religions either. But, I do believe it does say 'Thou shalt not kill' and many vegans apply that to their stance on animal slaughter. I personally am not a person that follows the Bible so I don't believe I can comment on this.
3) But it's natural to eat meat! Not the way we eat it. We pump animals full of growth hormones and antibiotics.
4) isn't it boring to only eat salad and tofu? If I did, yes. But, I eat a lot more than that. I eat fruits, vegetables, grains, and more!
5) If you don't milk a cow, it's utters will explode! We need to milk them! This is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. If a woman does not breastfeed, will her breasts explode? No. Also, cows only produce milk when they are pregnant and nursing their young. Therefore, after their babies are taken from them right after birth, they will be repeatedly artificially inseminated. A man will insert his arm into the cow with bull semen in something some people call the 'rape-rack.'
6) Plants feel pain too! No, honey, they do not. They do not have a nervous system, therefore they do not feel pain.
7) Humane slaughter is okay though, right? NO! You are still killing the animal! If I ran up to you and said, "I'm going to kill you now, but don't worry. I'll do it humanely." Would you say, "Okay! Go ahead!" Of course not!
8)If we weren't meant to eat animals, why do they taste so good? All carnivores and omnivores in the wild eat their meat raw and hunt it themselves. We do not. We cook it with spices and sauces. I don't think anyone likes the taste of raw meat.
9) Being vegan is so expensive! The cheapest things you can buy are vegan. Rice, noodles, beans, potatoes, frozen vegetables...
10) Do you poop a lot? Yes. At least three times a day. Usually after every meal.
11) How do your parents feel about it? My father is not so keen on it but my mother is considering going vegan herself.
12) I'm so sorry for you. I'm so sorry for the animals killed everyday. And that you're contributing to it.
13) Why are vegans so angry all the time? Because people ask them stupid questions all the time or make fun of them for being compassionate human beings.
14) Would you eat meat if it were the only food around? No, animals are not food.
15) What if I gave you a million dollars? No. I once ate meat after not eating it for almost a year and I was very close to needing to get my stomach pumped. (Obviously, meat is not good for our bodies.)
16) We were meant to eat meat! No we were not. Our jaws move side to side, purely an herbivorous trait. We sweat through pores, purely herbivorous. We have no claws, purely herbivorous. Our intestines are inclined to digest plant matter.
17) If everyone went vegan, the animals would take over the world! They only have the population that they do because we breed them that way.
18) Isn't it hard being vegan? It's not hard to be vegan in the physical sense. Meaning that it's not hard to cut out animal products. It is hard to see all of the other people harming or contributing to harming animals.
19) Do you really think you alone can make a difference? Nearly 8 million animals are killed every year for humans to eat in the United States. That number does not include fish and other marine animals. One vegan saves an average of 198 animals a year.

i LOVE THIS! Question 3 is what i hear mostly. I bring up the fact that our teeth are not designed as animals who hunt, also we cannot run like them or have claws like them. They kill to survive. Humans kill to "live better."
