Pure AdorationA Story by Quinn WI thought it was about time to write creatively again.
Tomorrow. You'll see her again tomorrow.
I'm not sure if this thought was scary or exciting to me anymore. In three months in England for an internship a lot can change. Will she still love me? Has she moved on? No. She couldn't have. We're in love. Are we? Or is it just me? Stop. She loves you, you love her. That's the end of it. With that final thought, I drift off into a perturbed sleep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. I extend my hand and slap my alarm clock into silence. Today's the day. I stand up and head to my closet. I examine my clothes and settle on a blue button down, burgundy sweater, and a short black skirt. Shoes are a lot more difficult. I only have three pairs but I think my black combat boots will add the badass I need in my look. I put on my clothes and look into the mirror. What am I missing? I glance to my right and see it. On the corner of my dresser is the necklace Sara gave me for our six month anniversary. I wrap it around my neck, clasp it, and run my fingers over the pendant. "No, no you shouldn't have! Why are you so good to me?" I ask Sara. She's always buying me presents. She doesn't need to, I know how much she loves me. "Oh come on! It's just a little gift," she replies and plants a soft kiss on my lips. "Do you like it?" she asks me, her brows furrowed. "Of course! It's beautiful, babe!" I say back and envelop her in a hug. She gently places her hand on my chin and guides my face up to her's. "I love you, Addy," she says, her caramel eyes staring into mine. Oh my god! She said it! My vision becomes cloudy as tears roll down my cheeks. "I love you too, Sara. So much." I rub my eyes, forcing myself to stay in the current moment. I walk over to the kitchen and pick up an apple. I bring it to my mouth and it clashes with my teeth. I look down and notice my hand shaking uncontrollably. Maybe I'll skip breakfast today. I grab my car keys and head for the door. As I drive to the airport, I imagine all the ways Sara will react when she sees me. I frown when I reach the parking lot and the visions fade, but smile once again, knowing this time it'll be for real. I walk up to the desk and show them my ID to get my gate pass. I want to be the first thing she sees. They tell me to sit while they get the paperwork ready. I sit down in a small blue chair. My leg jumps up and down until he calls my name. I go back to the desk and he tells me the flight should be arriving in fifteen minutes. I grab the paper from him and take off for the gate. I have to get there on time. I quickly walk and read all of the signs until I see the gate. I take a deep breath and wait. A few minutes go by and then I see two flight attendants walk through the door. I immediately stand up. People flood into the room. I smooth down my skirt and inspect their faces, looking for Sara. More time goes by and I get increasingly nervous. Am I at the wrong gate? Then I see her. Her chin lifts up so she can see over everyone else. I realize then, that she can't see me and take the time to do something special. I sneakily walk around the mob of people approach her back. I place my head gently on her shoulder and ask "What'cha lookin' for?" "Addy!" she yells as she violently hugs me. "I missed you so much," she says into my ear. I hug her back tightly and kiss her cheek with pure adoration.
