The Stairs *some bad language*A Poem by Quinn WTrue Story...
The Stairs
A girl lost in her own house. Darkness envelops her. She cannot see. Fingers brushing the walls to guide her steps. Arms out to the side. She turns, Her fingers no longer touching the walls. The stairs! Extending her left leg, she feels for the first step. Then, the next, and the next. A fourth of the way down, foot slips. *Pause* It was at this moment, she knew she'd f*cked up. "AAAAAH!!!" She shrieks in terror. BOOM! Butt meets wood. Elbows bang. Head flies back. Heels forced down to stop herself. Finally she stopped. Standing up. Gathering herself and what little dignity she had left. She placed her foot carefully on the next step, then the next, then the next, and so on. Two thirds of the way down. All seems fine. BOOM! D****T! NOT AGAIN! Thud, thud, thud, thud. Heels back down. Slowly stopping. Phew! (Then I just decided to scoot on my butt the rest of the way down.)
