DON'T BE AFRAID!

A poem about finding yourself and embracing your true identity. And my struggle with it.

From the second you enter this world,

people tell you who to be,

what is normal,

what is wrong.

You think you have no choice

in who you are,

but you do.

Don't be afraid

of showing your true self.

Don't be afraid

of those judging eyes.

Don't be like me.

Embrace yourself

and all of your differences.

FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T BE LIKE ME!

DON'T HIDE YOUR TRUE IDENTITY

FOR FEAR OF BEING JUDGED!

BE YOURSELF

YOUR TRUE AND REAL SELF.

DON'T BE AFRAID!

Don't be like me.

Don't be like me. Don;t hide your true self behind a curtain because you're afraid of what people will think of you. It will tear you down and break you.

People can see through a fake facade even if its subconsciuously. We should always be ourselves and that can be challenging when you are trying to fit in I guess.

i hid mine for too long---tried to please the crowd, be like others...it is so freeing when you get yourself out of that mode...

and be who you are...

Even tho the writing here is not as smooth as some of your other writes, I feel the urgency & so it seems logical that you're not choosing your words to be carefully crafted, becuz your message is to be real! You are being very real here & I like it! I think this message leaves the reader wanting to know what are the details you are skirting around? It feels a little like you're still hiding, since you do not give us any specifics in order for us to understand your own journey, which makes you the authority to be telling other people how to live. So . . . if you're not willing to actually REVEAL yourself here, then don't go around telling people to do what you are not actually doing! (please don't take that in a bad way, I'm just matching the exasperation you're expressing here) . . . (((HUGS)))

You really understood what I was going for. I was actually trying more to warn people of the things I am unable to do. In some ways it was also a prayer that no one else would go through what I did and am still going thorough. I was thinking about adding in aline about me being almost hypocritical but I wasn't sure where to add it. Thank you so much for your comment.
