Finding My Song

Finding My Song

A Poem by lightning-born
"

It's been awhile.

"

Sweet baby bird

Unable to feed by itself.

Have you ever heard

A baby bird sing?

Have you listened

To the song of a mourning dove?

Do you ever think

That it’s mourning love?

Mourning a loved one?

Mourning who it once was?

Do you think mourning doves

Mourn at all?

Sometimes it feels like

I should be able to sing.

Like a nightingale,

While the moon shines bright.

But sometimes it feels like

I’m still just a baby bird,

Helpless and fragile.

I want to find my song;

Even if it takes a while.

don't we all ... life is a crooked path .. made straight by miracles in our lives .. did you know that Mourning doves are also known as Rain Doves, Turtle Doves and several others .. they are mostly monogamous ... an amazing thing in species other than humans ;) the vulnerab ility in this poem is touching .. makes me want to keep your speaker safe and warm

I do believe. Most of us are seeking a safe place to rest.
"But sometimes it feels like
I’m still just a baby bird,
Helpless and fragile.
I want to find my song"
The above lines. I do understand. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
