Clinical Depression

Clinical Depression

A Poem by Q.M
"

This poem I wrote on my experiences with clinical depression, please do not read this poem if you feel as if it could trigger you. Remember, you are loved and appreciated and I'm proud of you. <3

"

Wallowing in the dark

Waiting for a savior

Someone,anyone!

Anyone to save me

I cannot carry on

It is far to dark

The voices hold me back

Stop me from escaping

I can never escape them

They grab and pull

And won’t let me go

I want to be free

I need to be free

The voices flood my head

Flood my thoughts

They flood it with a condescending voice

“You will never be worth anything”

“You will never be good enough”

“You are never going to make it”

I want it to stop

I need silence

They keep me up at night

And infiltrate my dreams

I cannot be freed

For their grip is too strong

I want silence

I want silence

I want to be happy

Before I began reading your poem ‘Clinical Depression’ I read your introduction and can I firstly commend you on the positivity you bring in reminding the reader of how important and loved they are:

You inject a feeling of sad desperation into this, thus conveying the horror of clinical depression and the relentless way in which it affects thinking to the extent that the 'victim' is trapped in a place where they simply relive the doubts day in day out. Well done.

I've had bouts of depression in my life, I understand what you mean by wanting quiet and silence. There's nothing fun about depression. It effects millions.

I was a mental health worker for 27 years, knew many people who had depression. It is something I would not wish on my worst enemy.

Thanks. You know of that which you speak.
Can't imagine what a struggle it must be.
Thank you for sharing.
