All I wanted.A Story by TheBookkeeperThe story of a young man who lost his father.
All I wanted was a normal life. I wanted a normal family, two parents. Not one.
My dad was a hero. he loved everyone. He wanted a happy equal world. His big brown, compassionate eyes always looking for someone to help. His sharp mind ready to defend any and all. His hair was black with a salt and peppering around the temples showed his experience and wisdom. His soothing voice ready to calm or speak the truth. He died happy, misty eyes and a smile as he said his last words. "Show love and compassion like I taught you, okay?" I couldn't push words past the lump in my throat, I could only nod as the tears burned my cheeks. Sobs began to escape my chest. I leaned my head on his arm. He shouldn't look like this. He should have a plump, happy face, full of life. not a sunken pain filled face of death. He should be animated, moving around like a mad hair, not tied to a bed being tortured be a disease. It was unnatural "I will." I said to him. I would be a good man for him. Always. Illness snatched him away. It wore him down slowly and painfully. He didn't deserve it. He'd never set a foot wrong. it hurt me to see him in so much pain. I try to remember the happy upbeat man he was before. my eyes still mist up when i think about it. They won't forever. I won't let them. I have to be strong for my mum. I have to be the floor for her to stand on. She loved that man to his very end, she still will till her end. I will too. My creed is love and compassion. For him. My angel, my inspiration, my dad.
