Drowning Slowly

Drowning Slowly

A Poem by Faren

Water came up rushing against my bare skin

Tingles shimmered through me

My heart fluttered with delight

I leaned into the sensation begging for more

knowing I could have none

Another wave and I would drown

Drown beneath the weight

Who was I to care in a world  so full of uncertainty

Who was I to give in to such temptations

It no longer matters

Scars returned where there were none before

Water revealing their presence for all to see

Salt added to the unknown wounds stung

But the memories brought the most pain

Never will I be the same

beautiful analogies. We drown in life, in love, sometimes, and those scars we thought were healed, come back to haunt us, while we sink a bit deeper into the current wave of despair...

Great poetry.

"Who was I to care in a world so full of uncertainty
Who was I to give in to such temptations
It no longer matters"
Sad yet realistic lines. One does feel like this too often.
"Never will I be the same"
True. We learn from our experiences and can never be the same person we were before.
Nicely penned ☺
