Final WordsA Poem by J.e.s.s.i.c.aHow do you speak final words? If you know that the words you speak will be the final ones That the person will hear pass your lips How do you choose what to say? So many words scramble to the forefront of my mind But I simply can’t pick. They muddle together and swirl into each other, Becoming one long word instead of a sentence. When I rely on my words the most, The words I let freely dance from my hand, They fail me. Words fail me. For if I can’t trust them in the times I feel faint What is the purpose of their presence at all? If my final words to you are limited Or seem unintelligent and simple It is not because I have nothing to say. It’s because I have so much to say that I can’t weave words Together. Would you disappointed with a simple “I love you”? Would that carry enough weight? It encompasses all I have to say, I suppose, Although it doesn’t seem to convey the entirety of my
emotion. What else is there to say? When it comes down to it, Is there anything left? I just hope what you see in my eyes Is strong enough to show you That although I simply can’t find the words, You mean so much to me. I love you. I miss you. Don’t go. Please stay… © 2012 J.e.s.s.i.c.aReviews
