Stereotyping

Stereotyping

A Poem by Jofer Serapio

Why are there Jews?

Why are there Hanukkahs?

Why are there Blacks?

What’s a Kwanza?

What does Caucasian mean?

Is it the same as being Asian?

Can Latinos speak Latin?

What’s wrong with being Mexican?

I’m confused.

Why do we have all those words?

We’re all unique, right?

So why do we need to stereotype?

Daddy, I hate stereotyping people.

Oh yes the age-old question about stereotyping, something I think the world knows all to well about. You did really do a great job of bringing forth those questions, which so many of us choose to ignore, just because it is easier that way
