Once

Once

A Poem by Jofer Serapio

Once I didn’t care about anything
Once I laughed for hours and hours about some things I forget
Once I told stories to everyone, even to strangers
Once I was happy with my life and how it went…

They were all there for me
They supported me with whatever goofy scheme I had
They laughed with me and cried when I did
They were the best companions I could ever ask for

She came to my life and brought me happiness
She told me she would never leave me, that I would always have her by my side
She was my joy, my comforter, and my best friend
She became my only happiness, my serenity

Things changed, people do that too
Once a proud warrior, now a fallen mad man
They left me for dead because they couldn’t take me anymore
She left me when she grew tired of understanding the monster that I am
