The New Holy Trinity

The New Holy Trinity

A Poem by Phoenix Wolf-ray
"

poem rejecting traditional religion, discovering the spirituality inherent in the world

"

Where, oh where has my little god gone?

He nestled so snug at my breast and

I suckled Him like a babe, oh he was sweet

and I, with He, complete in silent swallow

- oblivious, detached from mundane care ...

earthly concerns bored my selfless center.

Enter the gateway to the Kingdom of

Heaven within!  Enter, and be saved from sin

-- the lure was nearly irresistible

till with a strangled shriek

I threw Him from me; in a fleeting

desperate panic I saw Him grow needle fangs

... my skin developed a ghastly pallor.

Father, Son and Wholly Ghost; no room

for Mother in that triad - I was bad

to be born, deformed, as Aristotle would say.

Now, I can't even pray, I've ceased believing

in the penisgod, littlebabyboygod,

tinsoldiergod, OurFatherWhoArtInHeavenGod.

There is another God and She whispers

in the flesh the Other would have me abandon

He speaks in the languages of cells and neurons

the more I am with He and She and I

feel more present on the ground and

She and He and I together form

the newest, Holiest Trinity.
