"Maid with the flaxen hair"

"Maid with the flaxen hair"

A Poem by paul sal.....
"

A poem based on the music created by Claude Debussy with the same title....

"
                                            Fair maiden
You toil for some one else's desires
And sing for the joy of others
You give them peace as you
Brush your flaxen hair in the pantry closet
The children get lost in your kindness
As your kind is looked down upon
                                              Is it not unfair
                                              That a love like yours
                                              Is left unattended?
                                              If only I, Claude Debussy,
Could sweep you away with my music
Then, perhaps, my maid with the flaxen hair
could be free and walk with me
                                              along the country road
                                              and we could plant lilies
                                              along the shore
and place a rose in your flaxen hair
                                              and hold each other
                                              for eternity.

Such a courting poem bristling with the love and desire to love a maiden in ways no one else has, a maiden often manipulated for her altruism and treated poorly in contrast to how she treated, and still treats, the world now. I always enjoy the peaceful and gentle atmosphere that your poems invoke, and this one is no exception. Well done.
