A Regret

                                      Surprised to learn you are still on my mind

                                      It's hard to understand feelings of this kind.

                                      It's a lonely life, this life I lead and

                                      and some times I find

                                      within my own greed

                                      you are the only one

                                      the only one I need.

                                      I then curse my self

                                      and the actions I take

                                      and recall your quiet beauty

                                      beside a silver lake and

                                      glancing towards heaven

                                      with each new passing day

                                      I find myself in wonder

                                      because I've let you fly away.

Really great write, the emotions and current state of poet is expressed and there is a regret hiding as poet allowed to fly the person away, many will relate to this poem, no true answers why we let that person fly away, I may say because we are more bonded to strings and bonds of our limitations, which is quite natural for the poet to agree or disagree, really enjoyed

Thank you, somber is an emotion a step lower than melancholy ........... which is accurately describes feelings .......
