the silence

Rain drops slapping broken streets

clouds look on amused.

Cars and trucks and mistletoe

find they've been misused.

Water washing misty eyes

the sun is really there.

Lovebird has a glimpse to see

the preacher doesn't care.

Voices say we have to cope

but all they give are words,

within four walls the silence fills

an empty room of hope.

I love this. I like it because the imagery is presented in a way that the reader could make their own interpretation. This is great.. my favorite line " Cars and trucks and mistletoe/ find they've been misused." I also love the way you used the verb slap for raindrops falling. That was brilliant.. bravo
