Child's Play

Child's Play

A Poem by IamDale
"

"Sometimes kids are just too mysterious"

"
They welcome you with happy smiles,
Giggling, laughing with their toothless mouths.
Their cuteness, oh! We can never resists,
We just want to baby talk them and give them teddy hugs.

But, kids, oh boy,oh boy! Kids....
They sometimes are the wisest of people in this world.
Wooo, (whispers) Never underestimate a girl with a doll.
Never think you can just beat up a boy with glasses on.

Let me tell you, kids love playing.
They play hard and rough, and they can get physical.
Their games sometimes the games adults would not at all dare play.
And you here reading, don't dare stare at their innocent eyes.

Beware of your neighbor, that girl with a doll,
Hopping,galloping while singing lalalala's,
She's not what you think she is; behind those dolls,
Sharp things! Don't ever touch one doll!

Beware of them, these kids...
Remember that girl, that boy?
Could that be you years ago?
Where is the new generation going?

Will you let them live this way?
Will you allow these future trouble makers to be what they are now?
Would you dare steal those dolls, to change them?
Or maybe you'll dare to join a child's play?

I love the wonders that children bring, oftentimes they remind us of what we had forgotten through the many years and struggles and challenges we face. Having two myself I am sort of able to relive my childhood vicariously through them and its awe-inspiring watching as my son picks up a block and contemplates it, or listening to my daughter talk with her toys as if they are sentient because to her, they are within her imagination. It is only when we grow up to be adults when we forget the pleasantries and simplicity of life , the carefree sky-is-the-limit vantage point because we are so bound down by responsibility we forget to look around and enjoy life, to stop and smell the roses, to throw apples down the street for the sake of doing so, to pick up rocks because they're pretty and shiny and rather interesting...simple treasures.

Thank you for capturing the spirit of kids within this poem.

Some of that sounded off a little like child's play but, wonderful job and I will totally join in that child's play one day. Well done grasping the playful days as kids and some of us really should go back to the old days when we used to play. Probably why some people have kids to have a reason to play like they use to and give a chance to another to do the same. So wonderful description with galloping while singing la la la la la's which, I still do. So absolutely wonderful job and thanks for reminding me to be a kid again as this made me smile.

As someone once wrote .. children are certain sorrow, but only uncertain joy. I like mine, though!

kids are the most open to absorbing everythiing; their perceptions are still being shaped and they can see the purity of everything as well as catch their own parents in lies of the illusions they wish to paint but do not follow thru in actions - the old saying - do as i say; not as i do...kids are a beautiful being to watch -

'Could that be you years ago?' is the line for me. It really worked that line. It it hsrd to think that we were as you desfribe once. But then we still are in some ways and think ourselves lucky if there is still a little of the child left in us. And the child is older than the adult, too.
