I Confess

We lie,cheat and adore temptations...WHY?

The night at its darkest,

winds blowing north and south,

My mind about to erupt,

Boom! My heart can't stop but to race against guilt.

I confess, I did it! I'm ruined.

"Don't tell them, Papa"!

I can't look at their faces,

Their stares scream disgust and are belittling.

Sorry, I drowned myself in temptations.

I can't help it, I'm no perfection.

I ignored You, my Lord. You were screaming.

You were trying to get me out of the dark.

I confess, I killed his dreams,

I cheated and made his supposed to be jolly soul-dark,hopeless.

He should have won but I wanted it too.

I wanted it too, so I had to do it! I had to cheat!

Life does takes us to our darkest hours.

But never surrender to evil and temptations.

They'll only take our soul and throw you out.

Your life; destroyed and burned unnoticed

I find it amazing how God has you stumble upon certain things to try and uplift you in a current situation and how poetry speaks to you and helps shed insight on certain predicaments. I've been cheated on by my now ex-boyfriend and this poem really spoke to me, especially the last stanza which sheds a little hope and insight that I shouldn't dwell upon the things that have hurt me. As dark as I have become during this heartbreak that last stanza spoke through. Thank you for such a lovely poem.
