When Will He Carry me Again?

When Will He Carry me Again?

A Poem by IamDale
"

I love my dad so much :) I miss the old times

"
I remember how he'd speak for me
When I can't open the zipper of my mouth.
I remember how he'd toss me up in the air,
So I could see that flying was not for birds alone.

I witnessed how he showered his love for me,
Everyday and in every hug.
His feet so swollen, he dare not frown.
When I looked at him, he's all smiles.

All for you my boy, he said to me.
Not a single wound nor sweat would make him stop.
All day long, he worked and sweat was not a new word to him.
He thought of us, he thought of our lives in the future.

Now, I not a young boy anymore.
Now that I can speak well and can move.
How I destroyed your days with my complaints.
How my troubles would put all the tears in your eyes.
How you were hurt triple times when I caught pain.

Oh, father, sorry I truly am for not showing you.
The love someone like you deserves.
A father not to my need but to my whole being.
You propelled me to greater heights all my life.

I meant the world to you but I never showed you,
How you meant the same to me.
I showed you how ungrateful I can be each day.
I was not the son you raised me to be and for that,
I long for your forgiveness.

Oh how I wish I was still four,
When I thought the couch was my bed.
The way you gently put me into your arms,
And`carried me into my room, how you whispered,
I LOVE YOU :)

Amazing poem! Beautifully written and so heart warming indeed. ^_^

A true father ignores all pain, complaints and faults; loving the one being that brings happiness to their heart. When we're young we don't appreciate anything until we grow up. Not a lot of people express themselves well but you did and for that I applaud for a good poem.

This poem has to be one of my favorites of yours, seriously. It is so moving and inspiring, beautifully written. I actually got chills, so unbelievably moving work, Dale.

I remember when I had my children I actually called up my parents and apologized profusely for everything I put them through, but it is part of life, of growing, of learning and parents understand. Being in a parent/child relationship is a struggle for both parts but as parents we understand the struggles, as children not so much but we grow to understand.

It sounds like your father was an amazing man. He must be proud of his son for being so gifted with words.
