Jack in the BoxA Poem by H. M. K.
Jack the Cat's in his box for the third time today. The children wish he'd come out; Jack wishes to stay. The boys scream like banshees and attack him with toys, but Tabby Jack stays immune to that detestable noise. The girls, they play dress-up with Jack and his box. They adorn his striped body with hats, bibs, and socks. Poor Jack, worn out from this rough kind of play, claws out their eyes, and the kids go away. © 2008 H. M. K.Author's Note
