Double, Double: Hansel and Gretel

Double, Double: Hansel and Gretel

A Poem by LynLee

Double, Double: Hansel and Gretel

Double, double

Hansel and Gretel.

Did you know they were twins?

One was good, one was evil.

But which is which you say?

The old witch put the children away,

but made only Hansel big.

And so, here we go,

he was put in the oven to bake.

But why poor Hansel?

What about little Gretel?

So as the witch looked away

Gretel turned to the oven,

to get her poor brother out.

She opened the door

and saw her poor brother's chubby face,

with a sliver of a smile

as she was pulled in.

That wicked old witch,

and big Hansel

sat laughing,

and eating,

as they figured out the evil twin.

You seem to enjoy writing twist to classic fairy tales. I like them though, but Hansel was the evil twin?

I like the twist to it. I thought it was going to Gretel.
