HeraA Chapter by LynLeeThere aren't many stories about Hera. She was very vengeful, very jealous and was always looking to seek revenge of the affairs of the women Zeus had affairs with. The only story many people know of is when she decided to play a prank on Zeus. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She had decided to get back at Zeus, not the women he had an affair with. She snuck out of bed while they were sleeping and told all the gods and goddesses on Olympus of the plot. Zeus was heavenly sleeping, when the gods took strong ropes and wrapped him up so tight, Zeus couldn't get out on his own. He was sleeping so deeply he didn't wake up until dawn had touched his cheeks. He woke up, yawned and tried to stretch, but noticed he couldn't move his arms. He looked down and saw all the ropes on him. He struggled and struggled and everyone hearing his screaming ran to the bedroom. They peeked through the door and started laughing. He was so embarrassed, espiacally the way Hera was laughing. She was the loudest of the all and he knew immediatly that it was her that did this. Everyone burst out of the room, still laughing. He struggled and struggled. The one god that wasn't laughing was Hephaestus. Hephaestus was the smith god. Zeus was his father and Hera his mother. Hephaestus walked to him and was the only one that could un-bound the ropes, for he was the strongest. Hephaestus was so fond of his father he helped him get back at Hera. Zeus at first was going to strike them down with his thunderbolt, but was unable to, for they had hid it. Hephaestus went to his workshop and made powerful chains. So powerful that he couldn't get them loose. He had to put a lock on it, so that it wasn't permanent. Zeus walked right into the all the gods and goddesses eating lunch and immediatly they ran away in fear. The only one who didn't was Hera. She was still laughing, because she was probably talking about it and saw everyone flee, but before she cound run, Zeus seized her and carried her to the edge of the heavens. He bound her in the chains, still weeping, and hung her by her wrist and kept her there for days. She weeped day and night, and wouldn't stop. None of the gods would help her, nor the goddesses for the fear of Zeus. One night Zeus was unable to sleep and grew so tired, he started to cry himself. He walked to the edge of the heavens and yelled, "May I stop this crying, for I must sleep! How may I stop this dear Hera?" And Hera, still weeping, yelled back, "Dear Zeus, call for Hephaetus and make him un- bound these chains! For they hurt my wrist and cause my arms to ache! Free me!" And so Zeus, wanting his sleep, called Hephaestus and he unbound Hera. Zeus finally got his sleep and Hera never pulled a prank on anyone ever again. And as you can tell, never, ever, EVER...................................mess with Zeus. © 2010 LynLeeAuthor's Note
