Chapter 2

A Chapter by LynLee

I walked through the noisy halls. The bell was going to ring in exactly three minutes. I found Lea lingering at my locker. "Hey." I said pushing her to get to my lock. "Oh, hey." She said . She was fiddling with something on her neck. It was a necklace, the one I gave her for her birthday last year. "Why are you looking so sad?"

"Do you have to ask him?" She turned abruptly to me. She was staring at me. Her blue and green eye blaring back and forth.

"Yeah, that was the plan. Wasn't it?" She put her head down and I kneeled to put my things in my book bag. I looked up and she was staring at me, still playing with her necklace. I started to get uncomftorable. I slung my book bag over my shoulder, "What's wrong?" She let out a long sigh and laid against the locker.

"I just don't think you should ask him." I stared at her. She wouldn't look up. There was something she wasn't telling me.

"What is it Lea? What are you not telling me?" She still had her head down, when all of a sudden a loud rush of guys yelling chants came down the hall. I turned and saw Grant coming towards us. I smiled and shut my locker. He kept shouting out into thin air, turning around to make sure everyone was there.

Grant is captain of the basketball team, and the mathletes. He was athletic, totaly hot, and smart. And he wasn't a jerk like the rest of the guys.

I walked up, brushing my stray hair out of my eyes and behind my ear. "Hey Grant."

He stopped yelling and looked down at me. He was really tall for fourteen and I felt like I was five years old standing next to him.

"Uh, hey."

"Hey NovelLyn, what's up?" I dared to look up to his eyes. I did and got caught staring deeply into his brown eyes. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw some guys coming through the crowd. They were two more jocks. And they were holding onto a giant cooler. My eyes flew over to them and instantly my eyes grew big. They yelled something and Grant turned around, stunned.

They tipped the cooler and dumped the ice cold water...no, Kool-Aid on us!

I screamed and held out my hands. Grant couldn't stop laughing. I looked at my hands, they were blue. BLUE!

I just remembered something important, but before I could tell Grant a hand was pulling me from the crowd. She took me to the girl's bathroom.

"Really Lyn? You couldn't tell what they were going to do." I stammered on trying to say something, but couldn't. Blue.

She ran her fingers through my soaking wet hair. "Burr, they put a lot of ice in that thing." Instantly I felt a chill run through me.

Lea went over to her bag and found her beach towel. Thank god we planned on going to the pool after school.

"Here, wrap yourself first." She threw me the towel and I wrapped myself, patting my legs and arms. She went to my bag and found my towel. She told me to turn around and she squeezed my hair. I could see my pearl white towel turning blue.

Blue.

"This might take weeks to get our of your hair." She turned to me. My eyes must have looked like a deer in headlights. My bleach blonde hair, blue. I started to get off the sink and slipped on the wetness of my flipflops. Lea caught me and handed me my bathing suit.

"Here, put this on. I have a cover up." I took it and started to go into one of the stalls. I locked the door and started taking off my shirt. I threw it over the door and Lea took it. "I'll try to wash some blue from them in the sink."

"OK."

I heard the facet turn on and I started to put on my little bikini top. It was a cute yellow polka dot bikini. I couldn't help but start singing the song. "She wore an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka dot bikini, for the first time today."

"Oh my god, are you wearing that one." I heard her laugh. I put on the bottoms.

"Ya." She threw me the cover up, a hot pink one that cuts low and has a hood.

I opened the door and walked out. Lea turned around with my pants in her hands.

She saw me then dropped my pants. I looked at her wierdly.

"Oh, sorry." She picked them up, but wouldn't me in the eyes. I walked over to her, my feet still wet and slipping.

"Lea, what's been up with you?" She looked up and put my pants in my bag. She looekd at my face, then burst out laughing.

"What?! What is it?!" I said loudly. She pointed at my head and I looked in the mirror. On my head wasn't my blonde curly hair, but blue curly hair. I couldn't help but scream, then laugh at the same time. We both ended up laughing on the floor.

Finally we got up and headed for the door.

"Wait Lea." I said, holding her back.

"Ya?" She said, pulling her sunglasses down.

"What were you going to tell me?" She looked down again. I started to get annoyed of her doing that.

"Nothing." She said, but in a such a hushed tone I barely heard her. She headed for the door again.

I stopped her again. "No, there's something wrong. What is it?" I looked at her with pleading eyes.

"Nothing." She pulled her arm away. She headed for the door again. She turned and saw me not following. She sighed and held out her hand.

"Come on. Maybe the chlorine will wash out that blue." She smiled and I smiled back. I took her hand and we walked down to the pool. Before we walked out of the school we saw the janitors cleaning up the blue mess. We both laughed when we knew they couldn't hear us.

We got to the front doors and Lea leaned into me. "Ya know Lyn, I kind of like it blue." I turned to her and said, "In your dreams Lea."
