The Shifting Distance of Time

The Shifting Distance of Time

A Poem by Polly Taylor

Time is a curious thing;
Mathematics made the rules
Yet the flight of life
Bends and breaks what
Many affirm a science

60 seconds to a minute
And so on and on, and on
Tick tock
Phrases such as
“ the time of your life”
“ time is money”
Confuse the issue somewhat

Whilst deemed a fixed entity
Time is malleable, transient and lucid
It flexes and changes shape

A number of factors
Place importance
In defining the existence
It ends to be

Interest boredom, work,
Play, grief, heartache?

Sleeping sucks time,
Like a hungry car for fuel,

Guzzle, guzzle
Tick tock
I find
7 Minutes is usually enough.
