Don't

Don't

A Poem by PureAbstrakt

Don't

Don't measure me

Against your crooked scale of values,

Deconstruct,

Defragment,

Decompose me

And then try to saw me back together

With the white thread of your artificial

Hope

That someday I could be happy in your skin...

Don't ask me to be myself

If you are always to remind me

Of the time,

Of the expectations,

Of the water drain

Down on which my dreams will have to go

Should I remain

Chained to you...

Don't ask me to stop laughing

While the news announce rain again,

Never enough,

Never too much,

Never hard enough

To flood the useless desert

That has become

Your heart...

Don't let it be seen

How afraid you are

Of me

And all the damage I can inflict

Onto your little island that you have escaped to

Longing to be found....
