Highway

Highway

A Chapter by Shawn Purcell
"

The mystic lure of highway travel with the desire of freedom.

"

Born from pain, bound for freedom.

I feel the wild wind in my face.

I will sustain where I meet resistance

Like a pirate on a midnight run.

I’m back

And I’m eager to step forward

Into the grips of the unknown

For yet another show down

Chorus

When I ride the highway,

I am one with the night.

Till the sun comes out tomorrow

And reveals first light.

This is not the way

If there’s going to be an honest go at it.

Just go a little farther

And trust the spirits of the land.

Fight the highway gods

When they show their face.

Show them you don’t fear them.

When they say leave, stay.

Chorus 2

When I ride the highway,

There’s only one thing in sight.

Sand and road

And painted white lines.
