Truth or Consequence

Truth or Consequence

A Poem by Shawn Purcell
"

An exploration of what feelings can do to us sometimes.

"
Truth or consequence

A Secret or a lie?

Because I might cross that line

And I don't know if I'm afraid.

So I step across the tracks

And let the silence sit,

As the secrets find their place,

Because after all the little changes

You’re ready to make the trade

The sum without the difference for chaos of blame.

Chorus

Twisted up inside

To the point where I can’t speak

I had so much to say

But in the end there’s no relief

Chance made us

But circumstance breaks minds.

And soon you start to see,

In the fire beneath the surface,

The start of misconceiving.

I don't have time to watch you grow,

Or work past another heartache

And I don't have the time to watch you fall

And pick yourself back up

Then deal with all the fall out.

Chorus 2

Twisted up inside

To the point where I can’t speak

I had so much to say

But in the end there’s no relief

Fear shooting up my spine

Hoping that you’ll see

That you have something to say
To make me feel complete.
