Highway 75

Highway 75

A Chapter by Shawn Purcell
"

The concept for this song came to me one night riding on Highway 75 in Tampa, trying to make some hard choices...

"

On highway 75,

A dream once born had died.

Amidst scenes of broken dreams and

Failed attempts to fly.

We find how easily we tear at the seams.

But somewhere in between,

There must be some truthful meaning.

I can discern to give me peace.

On highway 75,

There’s a southern flag waving in a spot light.

Its going to go this way or it’s not.

But not strong enough to break away.

Born again beneath my wheels

The highway opens up.

I’m far from home,

And I’m wondering why I’m lost.

On highway 75,

Time was alive before me,

But I didn’t understand the power I had.

How each choice would ripple into the future

If I had another mistake,

I would gladly leave my heart here with you.

But the rode broke,

And our paths split.

Wanted to take a risk?

But couldn’t fight the compulsive urge to quit.

And cling for what’s familiar.

Like I rode in for one night only.

Lost what I’d been looking for.

Late one summer night

I left it all

On Highway 75
