Talk Tonight

Talk Tonight

A Chapter by Shawn Purcell
"

I wrote this on a plane ride to Tampa. Great experience. Heavy "Yellow Ledbetter" influence

"

Hey can you see it,

Hey do you feel

Can you believe?

All I could say

What are these words?

And I don’t believe it

I don’t know why,

I don’t,

I don’t know what I’m trying to say;

I’m bleeding,

You’re so far away

Currents rage,

Oceans in the way

See it?

Do you believe?

Look again,

Looking again

Another way.

Subtle attention,

I but I didn’t see

Some sort of attraction,

Sailed you to me.

Miles gone,

Ages away from who we used to be.

Bridge

Beyond your face, beyond this place

Dreams away, beyond my reach

Beyond our fate, beyond belief

Beyond your gates, so far from me

Chorus

And we can talk tonight

And you can watch me fall apart

We can talk tonight

Wind-down from the starting call

And we can talk tonight

And you can tell me all you dreams

And we can talk tonight

Recognized, it will never be

Jaded and wasted,

Graceless and fading

Thoughts

Turn in my head

And you didn’t feel,

But I know,

I know

What you wanted to say.

You say its all ego,

And I know,

I know,

I drove you away.

And can you see it?

Feels so secret.

Hold openly

Or throw away?

Retreated believing,

Mistrust

Slips in quietly like lightning

Collapsed Control

Crushed

By fear

I know I need it.

I know I’ll need you again.
