Just Checking

Just Checking

A Poem by Breanna Ragland

Just checking to see if my heart beats the same...
Ever since that cloudy day...
Ive never been able to restrain...
That lonesome little flicker of pain...
That sucks my soul and eats my brain...
How else was I supposed to restrain...
All the empty bottomless pain...
How was I supposed to stop the rain...
From pouring on my parade...
How am I supposed to stop the pain?
How do you suggest I make it go away...
All this empty bottomless pain...
All the rain I tried to save...
For someone else who wouldn't cause the pain...
How was I supposed to save the rain...
From pouring down on your parade?
Don't hurt me please... I beg of you go away...
Its over now... curtain call... close the stage...
Make it all go away...
The pain...
The rain...
The things you said to me that day...
Just promise me you'll leave someday...
But for now... just stop the rain...
By accepting your shame and leaving me with my pain...
Find another girl... cause rain to pour on her parade...
But just for now... please go away...
So I can make sure my heart still beats the same...
Just like on that cloudy day..
Make sure I still feel ALL the pain...
And let me feel the drowning rain...
Let me dive from sanity to insane...
Drive all the love away...
Leave me to feel the pain...
That you caused on that rainy day...
The day you drown out my parade...
I'm Just checking to make sure my heart doesn't beat the same...
