Little Doll

Little Doll

A Poem by Kayleen

pretty little girl

charming little thing

frightened of her mind

never says a thing

pretty little doll

child on display

you will never hear her cries

you only see her play

such a little actress

she will never tell

something deep inside of her

a darkness overwhelms

pretty little doll

just a silly little girl

knowing more than she should

of her little world

pretty little one

darling little thing

she doesnt want to hurt them

if they realize what she's seen

"If they realize what she's seen" to me might not necesserily mean anything happened TO her physically. She may have seen something that would disturb her so much that she's gone within herself. So many adults don't realize how perseptible children are about their surroundings. Suppose she saw a rape, or a murder or something else of that nature. This is not to say that it wouldn't be about her being hurt physically, but I just get a sense that my first thought is the one. A great poem Kayleen.

let it paints an image. What I like about this poem is that you don't give much detail-you leave the reader wondering what you are not only referring to but also it allows me (as the reader) to put my own perspective in place and fantasize not only what you as the writer are referring to but as the reader I can relate to however my perspective allows me to!

Okay I love this poem. We've all been through dark points in our lives where we feel like no one else is there, but this poem is so much more. It's the injustices of childhood- when was the last time anyone sat down and truly listened to their children? This poem is so meaningful. It's dark, it's well written, it's moving, it's beautiful. My heart actually went out to that little girl. You especailly nailed it with "child on display", because sometimes people act like that is all they are good for.

Easy read and gets to your emotions right away. Reminded me of Jon Bonet for some reason. Darkly written and quite enjoyable. Two thumbs skyward!

The rhyming scheme and emotional aspects go so well together in this poem.

A amazing poem. You made a poem strong with simple and strong praises. I like the pace and the purpose of the poem. Sometime hard to know the real story on people. We learn young to control emotion and how to act. A outstanding poem.

I really like the meaning behind this.
An innocent little girl who knows something she shouldn't.
I feel as though there are so many situations like this in the world.
Great Job(:
