The House on the Hill

The House on the Hill

A Poem by Kimi H
"

it's a story in a poem

"
There sits a home
high up on the hill top
surrounded by a broken fence
rickety and soiled

The shutters are falling off
and the foliage dead
it seems like the place is abandoned
and the locals say it's haunted

The village surrounding the hill
is fullof life with each passing day
But dare they look up at the home on the hill
no, infact, illegal to speak of it

A young boy, who found this obsurd
skipped school one day to explore
the home where one does not go
But goes quickly so he woun't get caught

After walking many miles
he reaches the hill, he begins the climb
of the soggy mud soaked hill
that becomes even more dead when he reaches the top

He finally reaches the top
and jumps the fence
He looked up at a window
and saw a face

Curious he crept into the home
and climbed up the stairs
Walked into a room to which the window belonged

Staring back at him was a beautiul young girl
confined to a wheelchair
sitting next to the window
with a smile on her face

He walked over to her
and saw a tear fall down her cheek
She told him her window was the only way into the world
and she had been watching him for years

She hoped he would come for she could not go
for her family hated the village
for not helping when they needed it most
And she was alone, up there by herself

He walked over to her
and promised he would stay for a while
He would have to go home
but would be back soon

They spent every day together
and nobody knew
For he was so captivated by her
he forgot to go home

The village thought he was dead
so the marched to the hme
where they burned it to the ground
while the two adolecents were still inside

When the rubble was removed
the villagers screamed and cried
For they had found the boy clutching the girl
and both were dead

The two were burried on top of the hill
and nobody spoke of them
Soon they were forgotten
And so was the house on the hill
