The Ferry Ride

The Ferry Ride

A Poem by Chenae

Snow capped mountains
Peak from ice cold waters
Birds the colour of frozen rain
Dance above, looking for sustenance
Careless waves splash against
the hull of this floating vessel
The sun kissing through the clouds
As we drift on past all the wonder
Remembered scenery brings back
Trips that I'd lost track
Nearing the destination
That I've been to before
As I gaze at the horizon
Squinting to see objects in the distance
that my eyes, even with help
cannot hope to see
Wondering what lay beyond
Those grey streaked clouds
Say goodbye to the ice cold waters
As I step onto the land once again
Waiting for the next triumphant trip
Where I may glance at this once again.
