A Walk in Deep Green Wood

A Walk in Deep Green Wood

A Poem by Samuel Dickens
"

Which way do I go?

"

Two roads there were in deep green wood

I knew not which to choose

So I scratched my groggy head

And took a shot of booze

Left or right, I didn’t know

But wanted to be fair

And so that whiskey bottle

I tossed into the air

It landed pointing somewhat left

And gave so-so direction

To the path that was the best

Or close enough, I reckon

Stumbling down that grassy way

I fired up my ol’ bong

But when I saw the zombie horde

I knew I'd chosen wrong

Hey, you zombies, go away

And do not eat my brain

I meant to take the other path

Not dead meat lover's lane

A gruesome dinner, I became

And soon the lights went off

I swear the one who ate the most

Looked like Robert Frost

Samuel Dickens
I don't know what's wrong with me. Too much Monty Python, I guess.

Well Sam you brought both Monty Python and Robert Frost to the fore with this write. I am a fan of both. So faced with that division in the road and not being sure which direction to take, a swig of the hard stuff helps? I enjoyed this zombie write and it's gruesomeness :)

lol! I had a good laugh. very well written.
Something, very light, makes you smile and learn a lesson or two on how not be double minded!

Especially, these two stanzas..
(I swear, had me in splits)

"Left or right, I didn’t know
But wanted to be fair
And so that whiskey bottle
I tossed into the air

It landed pointing somewhat left
And gave so-so direction
To the path that was the best
Or close enough, I reckon"

Thanks again!

Thank you. I'm not too serious with poetry, but like to have fun with it sometimes.
Haha this was funny, zombies can be quite troublesome :) Entertaining read, as a critique I could say a little more in depth description would be good but i suppose u don't need it too much in this kind of writing. I look forward to reading more :)

Ha, those damn pesky zombie hordes get everywhere, don't they? Nicely done Sam, I like the humour of letting the bottle choose your direction, but maybe next time go the opposite way from where it's pointing :)

Of course you can't! Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
HILARIOUS! CLEVER! BRILLIANT! I'm flabbergasted! After all these neatly-penned stories from you, now I see there's been a sassy poet hiding in there all along! You've created a delicious spoof on our favorite poem of all time. Now who wouldn't recognize the tongue-in-cheek? Thanks for the big ole smile! (((HUGS)))

Sam--

I thought, for three lines, that you had started channeling our Mr. Frost, then Bam! You played the booze card and I knew, instantly, that it was going to be a bumpy road ahead. I laughed so hard reading this! Your form and rhyme are well suited to the subject and made for a most enjoyable read.

And I thought you only wrote stories, hah! Welcome to the dark side--the zombie zone!
