Web of Miles

A Poem by Lacedletters

Airwaves and
Static
Macro or micro
The service can be
So slow.
Our hearts are strung
Out on telephone
Lines and our
Feelings
Displayed on
Line. We smile
Silently at a
Cold-hard-flat
Screen
Hoping to
One day touch
Flesh and
Bones. Phones
Are wonderful
Things but
I want more
Than an inter-net
Outer-met
Relationship.
I can see his
Face put
Together by
Thousands of
Pixels and hear
His voice over
Thousands of
Miles. It’s great
To be a
Touch-screen
Away but when
Can I touch
His sun kissed
Breeze twist-ed
Sky mixed skin
Instead of
This plastic
Representation
Of him?

When can we be more than airwaves?
