Remember

Remember

A Poem by Paige Turner

I’m sitting here and I can’t find the words. The things they’ve all sacrificed: comfort, family, life. People disrespect the uniform, what they all stand for. People disrespect the Air Force, the Army, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard, and the Navy. The wars they’ve all fought, the things they’ve seen, the people they’ve lost, things they’ve gone through, and people have the odasity to pin them against the wall and crucify them. We’ve all seen it, on the news, in an airport terminal, on social media. No one is perfect not even the Armed Forces. Things happen, for no other reason than it was an accident, sometimes it’s more sometimes it’s less. It crushed me knowing how people treat veterans and men and women on active duty.

I simply can not thank all of them enough, every branch, every man, every woman. I think maybe people don’t understand, they all have their own faith, their own code of morals and ethics, just like everyone else. They’re people, just like everyone else. They’re a son, a daughter, a father, a mother, a husband, a wife, a brother, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, an uncle, a friend. Without all of them, we wouldn’t have what we have and I think people fail to see that. So I’m going to elaborate just a little. We can walk out of our doors and not worry about stepping on a bomb. We can eat and drink whatever we want whenever we want it. We have cars, and technology, and the FREEDOM to say what we want to say and do what we want to do. I could go on for hours, days, probably weeks. I have so much respect for our veterans and service men and women, my mind can’t wrap itself around it. Now that my rant is over, there is only one thing I have left to say.

REMEMBER. Remember the person, the human being, the life, that served our country. REMEMBER. Remember the person, the human, the life, that is serving our country as we speak. REMEMBER. Remember the person, the human, the life, that did not come home.

THANK YOU to ALL that has served. GOD BLESS.
