Sackcloth Without Ashes

Sackcloth Without Ashes

A Poem by Pete
"

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. - Thoreau

Gunny sack - Wikipedia

the grass was short and yielded not to the day's breeze
the sky was high and heavy with the tipped weightage of passing clouds
sort of like when you yearn to be alone despite clambering, jibbering crowds
my life was full of nothing
just the way i like things
no one pulling my strings
as pete sings, 'did you steal my money'
you can take my honey
hop around like the easter bunny
no matter, my sky will still be sunny
a comedy of errors always funny
as i try to jump over the dirty river
before a wide, flowing mouth that has no choice but to deliver
wearing nothing but a sack of gunny
