Tributary

Tributary

A Poem by Pete
"

If rivers come out of their icy prison thus bright and immortal, shall not I too resume my spring life with joy and hope? - Thoreau

"
The Organization for the Assabet River

swirling
curling
glistening lotion
moonlight caresses the river
gently
gently
smoothly
rippling delicately
beams dancing 'pon occasional rising swells of current
on its way to somewhere
remembering nothing
carrying everything

as time closes in
with passion
i'm there
alone
with my swollen cross
floating
moving
traveling
going everywhere
knowing nothing
a mysterious abyss
waiting for a reciprocal kiss
always a near miss
in such a flowing life as this

Author's Note

Pete
"The life in us is like the water in the river. It may rise this year higher than man has ever known it, and flood the parched uplands; even this may be the eventful year, which will drown out all our muskrats. It was not always dry land where we dwell." - Thoreau
