Naughty, Minus The Hot Toddy

Naughty, Minus The Hot Toddy

A Poem by Pete
"

They take great pride in making their dinner cost much; I take my pride in making my dinner cost so little. - Thoreau

"
Prideful pastors

stomach distended
as if mine doesn't stink
no matter what others may think
was all i had, all i knew
bloated with ego
i dined 'pon myself
choking on voluminous pieces
vomiting selfish chunks
regurgitating compendious hunks

it came before the fall
clean the plate of all
adorned with a carnation of preen
open wide
swallow more of that narcissistic pride
only then is it ended

Pete
"As for your high towers and monuments, there was a crazy fellow once in this town who undertook to dig through to China, and he got so far that, as he said, he heard the Chinese pots and kettles rattle; but I think that I shall not go out of my way to admire the hole which he made." - Thoreau
