The Truth, The Whole Truth And More

The Truth, The Whole Truth And More

A Poem by Pete
"

It's only by forgetting yourself that you draw near to God. - Thoreau

"
Dirty Hands

in a travesty of life
unequivocally
the best sermons i ever heard
were in alleyways
smelling of urine rather than incense
wreaking of despair and not joy
amidst a  choir of empty bottles, lottery tickets and broken souls
not on pulpits
but standing in sunken potholes
wearing dirty clothes
no matter what the devil says he knows
regardless of which way the damned wind blows

Author's Note

Pete
"It is remarkable that almost all speakers and writers feel it to be incumbent on them, sooner or later, to prove or acknowledge the personality of God. Some Earl of Bridgewater, thinking it better late than never, has provided for it in his will. It is a sad mistake." - Thoreau
