Everybody, No One And Some

Everybody, No One And Some

A Poem by Pete
"

Truths and roses have thorns about them. - Thoreau

"
the Roots: Truth Requires Thorns ...

no one knows how to jack up a car until a tire goes flat
no one gets a dog when they'd rather have a cat
no one stays quiet when they'd rather be talking
everybody's a hero until mortality comes knocking
everybody knows the way until they come to a fork in the road
everybody wants more until it's time to carry a heavy load
everybody wants a rose until they bleed from a thorn
everybody's innocent until they day they're born

everybody loves god until the devil introduces himself
everybody's tall until they can't reach the top shelf
everybody's obedient until they exercise free will
everybody wants more until the waiter brings the bill
everybody wants a drink until the well runs dry
everybody's a christian when it comes time to die
no one knows what clouds are until they've seen a clear, blue sky
some people laugh when they ought to cry

This was great fun to read. There are, of course, quite a number of logical fallacies I could point out in the construction but nope, ain't gonna. It was still fun to read and that's the main thing...was it enjoyable? I give that question a big resounding yes. I think humbleness of spirit and integrity of character exist in a good many folks and I've witnessed it at work in more than a few. I've seen a great man die with dignity and grace completely satisfied in his convictions. Not everybody's a fake or a fraud. But I can certainly make allowances for those who may think otherwise. I've witnessed more than a few of those as well. I enjoyed the read.

I second Fabian, Pete, there's a humility to the way you express yourself that I've long admired, and I think others see that dignity as well.

Wishing you well, Pete, thanks for sharing.
