I knew a girl like this once, Pete - brown eyed, though in my mind akin to stained glass at a cathedral.

Sad part is, I suspect she felt the same way about me that I did her - we only knew each other through mutual acquaintances, never crossed paths, though there were moments we certainly could have.

I think I was afraid to kill the mythos I'd built in my head around her, and I think I was just as afraid to kill the mythos in hers of me. We build sculptures of certain people, our imaginations fill in the gaps, and I've found that reality can never do those conjurations justice.

Anyways, to the ones that got away - be it them or us. : )
