All The Girls Swallow in Capistrano

All The Girls Swallow in Capistrano

A Poem by Re-Pete
"

The birds I heard today, which, fortunately, did not come within the scope of my science, sang as freshly as if it had been the first morning of creation. - Thoreau

"
barn swallow of san juan capistrano

dressed in polychromatic feathers
no matter the weather
with a shuffling, waddling gait
well worth the long, anticipated wait
toting an uplifting song
it won't be long
swarming on high
all eyes turn upward to the sky

ding-a-ling-ling
mission bells ring
mariachis play
on this joyful, wondrous day
don't be afraid to follow
wings flapping with trusted, enduring strength
females select mates on the basis of tail length
nothing like it from minsk to milano
all the girls swallow in capistrano

"I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn." - Thoreau
