"Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes. - Thoreau

Building a Classically Inspired Ship's ...

with your fake hellos
and long, crocodile tear goodbyes
you wanted to be the captain
steering the ship

you wound up walking the plank
turning an empty spit's crank
as the lonely, stray dog barks
indigestable food for circling sharks
an empty blood bank

Author's Note

Re-Pete
"They will tell you tough stories of sharks all over the Cape, which I do not presume to doubt utterly,--how they will sometimes upset a boat, or tear it in pieces, to get at the man in it. I can easily believe in the undertow, but I have no doubt that one shark in a dozen years is enough to keep up the reputation of a beach a hundred miles long." - Thoreau
