Keep Those Legs Up

Keep Those Legs Up

A Poem by Pete
"

A man sits as many risks as he runs. - Thoreau

Run the Race of Faith and Complete the ...

i'm running
out of breath
gasping for air
running
out of breath
gasping for air
i'm running
faster
out of breath
gasping for air
coming from nowhere
going nowhere
i started out sprinting
but now i'm jogging

a hamster on someone else's wheel
too young to think
too old to care and feel
too uncoordinated to shuffle
too blind to deal
too lazy to peel
too tired to kneel
too uneven to be a ship's keel
not we will but we'll
run the race and keep the faith
'cuz that's what the good book saith

The title reminds me of a song Hold your head up by the Party Boys and or the band Argent. Your whole poem could be lyrics to a song g. Nice work Pete. HNY.

That was a strange quote by Thoreau.

I like and love the rhyming of the poem. The distress of the piece kinda got to me. But that's poetry, eh?

Learning not to question the "meaning" of every piece. It was really good and inspired me to wonder (:
