Forsooth

Forsooth

A Poem by Pete
"

They will wait, well disposed, for others to remedy evil, that they may no longer have have it to regret. - Thoreau

"
World on fire! Live righteously… and ...

my soul stands accused and stoned in a wicked, burning world
a world that no longer makes sense
its people tell me that up is down and down is up
as they bathe in the pursuit of deceptive, tangible wealth

spitting on lies, making mud and telling me it's truth
selfish and uncouth
unknowingly and indignantly forsooth
they turn wine into water, corking it to gain more profit
i wish they would get the hell off it

Author's Note

Pete
'There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root, and it may be that he who bestows the largest amount of time and money on the needy is doing the most by his mode of life to produce that misery which he strives in vain to relieve." - Thoreau
