What Do I Want?

What Do I Want?

A Poem by Re-Pete
"

All men want, not something to do with, but something to do, or rather something to be. - Thoreau

"
What Do I Want?

i want to ...
suggest without giving any hints
touch the sky without leaving fingerprints
be found innocent without having to plead
sow without scattering seed
get cut without having to bleed
pray without a creed
hear without having to heed
want without need

i want to ...
reproduce without having to breed
have it all without greed
own without a deed
surrender without having to concede
dress without wearing tweed
go fast without speed
scratch without being keyed
and
be read without having to read

Author's Note

Re-Pete
"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms..." - Thoreau
