A Leaf

A Poem by Pete

I think that the change to some higher color in a leaf is an evidence that it has arrived at a late and perfect maturity, answering to the maturity of fruits. - Thoreau

ammunition of my vibrant colors spent
in a final blaze of glory
surrendering to shorter days
relenting to cooler nights
letting go

drifting softly
spinning gently round and round
silently to the ground
becoming fodder for others
my creator having his druthers

I know that you really appreciate nature and all of its seasons...and this write is perfect for autumn and what is to follow....those vibrant colors seem to awaken our senses, as we watch them fade into brown and drop to the earth....crunch, crunch....when they are all spread ...they ready the ground for blossoms to thrive in the spring....well done Pete!

thanks j. too bad some of us have to rake them up but well worth the colorful show.
We had a Indian Summer in Michigan. Almost eighty today. My trees in my yard are still green and my roses bloomed again. I enjoyed the poem Pete. I do love the change of color. Make our world more colorful. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry for Autumn.
