If Only You Would

If Only You Would

A Poem by Pete
"

The heart is forever inexperienced. - Thoreau

"
A woman holding a flower in her hand ...

remembering when eternity stopped running and just stood
if i could
if i should
if only you would

would you hug my soul and hold my heart
you know the drill
would you make time stand still
would you carve your name in my window sill
where a heart stopped beating and stood still
if we could make our love overflow and spill

not to be misunderstood
i would wear you like a hood
i promise it would be good
because i know we could
if only you would

if you could cry
if you could try
if hurt would die
if lonely nights wouldn't lie
knock on wood
if only you would
